Abbey, Tyler & Lex

I am a little late on this one, but 2 weeks ago I had the pleasure of doing a session with Abbey, Tyler and their adorable little guy, Lex! Abbey is a good friend of mine, as well as my hair stylist. Recently when I was getting my hair done she asked if I would do their photos. She explained that she was having a problem capturing a good photo of the 3 of them because Lex is at that age where he is very active. I was of course very excited about it, as this gives me more practice and she was the first person to ask me to do their photos and was actually serious about it, ha ha! Now Lex was the first child of his age, under 2, that I have photographed. I must admit it was a little challenging getting him to look at the camera. I don’t have any kids so I am not the best at entertaining them or getting their attention. I sure did learn a few lessons that day. I will be taking bubbles on my future shoots with young children, and I will also be investing in a few camera buddies, as they call them. I kind of followed them around and tried to let Lex do his own thing. Like I said, I was a little nervous and unsure of how to work with a child his age, but I think it turned out well. I was just so honored to be asked to do their photos for their Christmas cards! Here’s a look at some shots from the session.

First Photo Session!

So last Saturday, October 17th was my first ever photo shoot with people, instead of just nature! Now of course I have photographed people many of times over the years, but this was the first real session with my camera since I have learned more about the settings and such. I was so very excited about my first shoot with Bobbie and her beautiful little girl. I was honored to have the opportunity to photograph them as well as excited to finally meet them in person. See, I have been friends with Bobbie on facebook for some time now through a mutual friend but had never actually met her in person until last weekend. I must admit that I was nervous at first because I was not sure how specifically I would want them to pose, if we would all feel comfortable, or if the whole thing would feel too staged. I bought a hay bale, some small pumpkins and some flowers and set out to meet them at a local park. Everything turned out great in my opinion! We all flowed well together, I asked Bobbie to get in a few different poses and the rest of the time we kind of just winged it, which was nice and I think helped it flow so well. All in all I feel like it was a great first shoot! Here are a few shots from our session.
